Beth & James

My last wedding in 2009 was a fun one for sure. It seemed like forever had past since Beth booked me. It was worth the wait.

Some long overdue updates

Fall is always my busiest month. This year was no different and I was too busy with editing to update my blog, but I wanted to post a few weddings that I missed.

lisa + chad

The weather in autumn may be unpredictable, but it always makes for a glorious backdrop to any wedding. The rain held off just enough for pictures and the ceremony. Lisa and Chad are a fun couple and rarely were seen off the dance floo and Lake Valhalla in Montville, New Jersey set the perfect stage.

NYC Time lapse

Despite New York not being my favorite city right now (thank you for that Yankees) I still marvel at it from afar. I shot some footage at a wedding to use in a time lapse and couldn't wait until the day came to actually use it or at least use in the manner I can here.

Cristina + Justin

Cristina and Justin are huge music lovers and probably see more shows a year then I've seen in my lifetime. So music choice was important and it had to demonstrate their style. So I went with Matt & Kim's Daylight for their trailer. A great party song to be sure but a fast song that it great to edit too. It just makes anyone look cooler although, they didn't need any help from me.

You can check it out below and also check out their photos taken by the amazing artists at dollface studios.

Catching Up

It's been a few weeks since my last posting. It's hard to believe that November is here and the season is coming to an end. It's going to be a busy winter with a bunch of commercial projects along with a few weddings sprinkled in there. Since I last time I've been editing non-stop and posted a bunch of projects, not including one I'm rendering as I type.

Kerrin + John

They are such an amazing couple with a great eye for good photography. I'm thrilled they choose me to film their big day. They were looking for a fun but elegant wedding film and I think we nailed it. Check it out here.

Julie + Matt

It's fitting that I'm posting Julie and Matt's video with Kerrin & John's. Both days were blessed with great weather and a lot of dancing - non stop dancing. Knownlton Mansion in Philadelphia is a perfect spot. A little piece of tranquility in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the cities crowded streets; all the energy involved comes with a invitation.

Meredith + Rob

Meredith and Rob provided a great way to spend a portion of labor day weekend. I've always found that there is a bit less dancing at early weddings, but that wasn't the case here. You couldn't pull them off the dance floor.

Loan + Jay

I don't often have the chance to get back into New York which is a pity, but for a wedding New York

I've gotten friendly with Loan & Jay along the way they and their families were so inviting and I think the highlight film illustrates that.

Here it is

Leanne + Jake

This was my first real destination wedding and what a wedding it was. It was a party from sun-up to sun-down, with the Sierra's serving as the most stunning backdrop possible.

Miraculously, the rain held off although we could see the rain a quarter mile down the road; but that made for some awesome cloud formations. A blue sky is nice but rolling clouds can transform into those deep-red sunsets that we don't get often back east. Turns out they get them quite often in Bridgeport.

Thanks to the awesome couple and also the Bridgeport Ranch for throwing such a fun party and including us.

I'm up for more destinations. Email me for more info. Here's Leanne and Jake's video.

Enjoy.

Nadia + Tom

Filmed at one of my favorite locations, Bonnet Island Estate on a perfect day Nadia and Tom's wedding created a perfect setting for a beautiful wedding film.

Latrice + Vince

As I mentioned before August was quite a rollercoaster ride and it started at quite a high on the first of the month filming Latrice and Vince's wedding. The day was filled with so many great moments it was not easy to place them all in the context of the highlight film.

Jacqueline + Addison

I was fortunate to film a second wedding at both Bryn Mawr Pres and Merion Golf Club. Both are such beautiful locations with long and storied histories; a perfect spot for a young couple to begin their own history together. And since I was there to document it, here are some of the highlights.

From NJ to California to NYC

Three weddings, two coasts and lots of airports and rest stops. It's been a crazy month for weddings. I'm staying put for the fall so I should be posts lots of great footage in the near future. As always, I appreciate all feedback.

Calli + Seth

Appleford estate is chock full of great spots for photos and a beautiful setup for an outdoor wedding. Calli and Seth had a beautiful day and are a fun and gracious couple.

Dollface Studios handled photography brilliantly. You can see some of their pics on their site (link on the bar to the right). Enjoy the video!

Tough Week

Every weekend I have a wedding scheduled I drop off a suit at the cleaners not two blocks from my home. At first he'd see the suit and ask if I was heading to a wedding or a funneral. I'd answer, a wedding, without exception, since I've been to 200 weddings or so in the last three years. After a while he'd just ask where the wedding was.

This week however, when I pick up my suit, I will wear it for my father's funeral. After a yearlong struggle with renal cancer, my father passed last Wednesday in Seattle. I spent the better part of the last week in Alaska and Washington, spending as much time with him as possible. This week is the impossibley daunting task of celebrating his life without him.

I had planned to finish off all my June and July weddings prior to leaving for California on the 17th of this month to for more filming and more weddings. Needless to say is I have fallen a few weeks behind. Bear with me. I'll try to have everyone's highlight video up first so you have some to view and share.

Catherine + Franklin

What a great day Catherine and Franklin had for their wedding. Bright sun, cool breezes and a perfect locations. I may sound like a broken record but I love my job and work with such great people. Catherine and Franklin's families were so nice and made the day a blast. Not to mention, the speech given by Catherine's father which was about as moving as it gets.

Check out the video. Leave a comment and contact me about booking your big day.

Ashley + Kevin

I worked with Ashley on creating a beautiful wedding video, but since I was booked already I was only able to edit it. I work with some great shooters and the footage they take is always beautiful.

Ashley picked out the song and Dave Matthews was a great choice and will only enhance their connection to the video. All the images in the intro are video captures from the HD video; an extra benefit for having xposedfilm capture your wedding.

Enjoy!

Faith & Joel

Faith and Joel's wedding was a celebration of family and friends. From the reverence of their ceremony to the party that ensued; after I really had too many beautiful shots to choose from. I hope they enjoy their video for years and when their young children are older they will have proof that their parents are cool!

Enjoy

Deanna + Steve

Deanna and Steve's wedding took place at the beautiful Holly Hedge Estate in New Hope, PA. I had never been there but it is a great place for a wedding. I was especially fond of the courtyard where the ceremony was held.

Denna and Steve were great fun and very laid back. All their guests had a blast. Photography was done by the two Jessicas over at Paired Images.

Steve was fond of the timelapse footage so I did a few different versions for them.

Jenn + Mike

A few weeks back during a rare sunny day this June, I filmed Jenn & Mike's wedding in Wildwood. I hadn't been on the Wildwood boardwalk in years and was able to get some very nice shots, some of which I put on the Highlight Film and more will be on the long version.

Jenn and Mike live in Colorado now, but Mike grew up in Wildwood so it's a great homecoming for him. I'm glad I had the opportunity to capture it all, not to mention a few moments of a five hour long parade for the Elks lodge that happen to be going on right outside.

Nicole & Ryan

I had a fun time shooting Nicole & Ryan's wedding. Darah and Siobhan from Dollface where the photographers and we love it when we get to "work" together. Rain put a damper on some of the planned photography but I still got some great footage. Ad-libbing is the name of the game in this business and then editing a final product that is better than you can hope always helps.

Catherine + Steve

Catherine and Steve are neighbors and artists. We actually purchased some art from Steve for our house and got to know them as a couple after visiting their studio. Their wedding was a real act of love as friends and family pitched it to create it. I don't know if they used any vendors at all. It seems everyone they know is artistically talented from the food and dancing, to the music. At one point a hour long jam session formed and the whole bridal party played and being musicians they were amazing. Plus the whole wedding took place a couple of blocks from my home. I doubt that will happen again.

As they are a both spiritual and playful couple I utilized those attributes in their video. I am especially fond of the second portion of the video because I was able to use Tom Waits' version of I don't want to Grow Up. I aged the footage a bit and just had fun with it. I think it captures the emotions of the day pretty well.

Enjoy!

Things are heating up

It's been a relatively quite spring. It's given me time to check out new equipment and focus a bit on having fun with photography. Here are a couple offerings from the last month or so. April Stuff

After a somewhat slow start, the summer is booking up fast. It should be an exciting season with weddings from New York City to Northern California. It's fun checking out new places and meeting great couples every week and to think just a couple years ago I was working in a casino.

I haven't had a chance to post anything recently, because I really haven't had a chance to film anything. It's been busy on the non-wedding film work front and a great way to bring some of those techniques to your wedding films. I have some great ideas and can't wait we hit the wedding season full speed.

I'm also looking for couples to do a "love story" basically a non-wedding music video. But from what I've seen these are really cliched so I'd want to get creative with it and do some really fun stuff. Let me know if you are interested.

Marcy & Greg

These guys were a great couple and with Darah and Siobhan of Dollface doing the photography there was a lot of creativity that went into the day. I took that ball and ran with it doing one my funkiest edits yet. I may post a slow edit as well, but for now her is Marcy and Greg's wedding set to Vampire Weekend.

7.1 Random shots

I turned my d90 into a HD video camera a few times over the last weeks and set it to music. It has a couple cool features on the camera but has some serious drawbacks. For the price you can't beat it though.

March Update

So, I've fallen behind in my 52 week video project but have exchanged that delay with a brand new website. In the past I was a web site designer but have left those days behind. The new site allows for easy changes and no website design on my part. It's a beautiful thing. Of course any comments on the site or suggestions are always welcome.

This & That

I've been tardy on my video updates. I promised one video a week. Usually I can pump out a bunch of videos in a week but my main computer hard drive died so either I can get it fixed or get a new computer. Still deciding on that one. Anyway, editing and rendering is much slower on my backups. Thankfully this is the slow season so I can get away with it.

I promise some cool stuff and even a new wedding video as early as tonight. Stay tuned.

5.1 How to Draw a Skull

A good friend of mine has been working on some projects with the Miami Ink guys. One of which was a instructional video that I was involved with as well. The project is on hold but I have some footage and thought it would be nice to throw it online.

3.1 Walk in the Woods

My wife and I took advantage of some newly fallen snow and headed out to Wharton State Park for a walk. I brought my camera and Buddy, the dog whom we are dog-sitting for the next few weeks. I played with the footage a bit and set it to Feist's Honey Honey.

You can view it on my vimeo page.

2.2. Outside My Window

I was under the gun for this one, but with an hour to spare the week two video was finished. These weekly videos aren't supposed to be very time consuming, but I lost two computers in a week so editing on my "accounting" computer was my only choice. You know what happens when you put art people and accounting people in the same room. Nothing. Or in my case a two hour renders takes two days.

For this video, I shot some footage outside my window, sped it up and added some funky photoshop filters. Then dropped in some Burial and here it is.

52 Week Project 1.1

I am one of those people who think New Year's resolutions are rather foolish and are really just around so there is something to talk about. There's really not much to the holiday. Before the new year I decided I really need to film more non-wedding videos. To that end I thought if I did one non-wedding video a week that would really keep the creative juices flowing through the long dark days of winter. It just happens that the first week is this week. So while it may appear to be a New Years resolution, it really isn't.

So what's up with this first video? Yeah, maybe it is recycled, but I needed to start strong so since the rest of the footage from the air show is lost I have posted it. I used Tom Middleton's Sea of Glass as the soundtrack. Here it is.

Want to see it in HD? Click here.

Lori + Jeff

Here is my last highlight video from the 2008 Season. Valley Green has always been one of my favorite places in Philadelphia, but as a wedding site it's amazing, especially in the fall. An outdoor wedding in November can be risky but the rain stopped and it became a perfect mild day. I've been testing out a few things in After Effects and adding them to the videos.
